Defining dynamic thresholds
Related topics
You can define dynamic thresholds for all BMC AMI Ops products. Dynamic thresholds consist of the following parts:
- Threshold sets
- Calendar periods
- Threshold selections
After defining each part of a dynamic threshold, you must enable it for use, as described in Controlling the availability of dynamic thresholds.
The basic steps to defining dynamic thresholds are:
- Define a threshold set:
- Create a threshold set definition for an element that you want to monitor.
- Add threshold comparisons to the definition.
- Enable the definition to make it available for use.
- Define a calendar period:
- Create a calendar period definition.
- Add time spans to the definition to indicate when the calendar period should be active.
- Enable the definition to make it available for use.
- Define a threshold selection:
- Create a threshold selection definition made up of threshold selection entries (pairs of threshold set definitions and calendar period definitions).
- Enable the definition to make it available for use.
