Defining connection profiles
To collect and store
BMC AMI Ops
performance data, you need to define connections between the
Threshold Advisor
server and one or more:
- BMC AMI Ops Host Server on the mainframe
The Manage Host Server Profiles tool lets you manage the connections to one or more BMC AMI Ops Host Servers. - CDB servers
The Manage CDB Server Profiles tool lets you manage the connections to one or more CDB servers.
To define a BMC AMI Ops Host Server profile
- In the application toolbar, click Administration Tools.
- In the Administration Tools window, click Manage Host Server Profiles.
- Click Add to open the Add Host Server Profile dialog box.
Enter the values for each field, as described in following table:
Field
Description
Host Server
Host name or IP address of the BMC AMI Ops Host Server
Port Number
Port number that the BMC AMI Ops Host Server is using to communicate
The default port number is 3940.
TSO User ID
User ID to be used when accessing the BMC AMI Ops Host Server
TSO Password
Password to be used when accessing the BMC AMI Ops Host Server
- Click Test Connection.The Connection Status field displays the result.
- After the connection has been verified, click OK.The profile appears in the Available Host Server Profiles list.
Click Save Changes to complete the update, or Close to cancel.
To define a CDB server profile
- In the Administration Tools window, click Manage CDB Server Profiles.
- Click Add to open the Add CDB Server Profiles dialog box.
Enter the values for each field, as described in following table:

Description
Profile Name
Name to be assigned to the profile
Profile Description
(Optional) Description of the profile
Server Hostname or IP-Address
Host name or IP address of the CDB server
You must specify https:// or http:// in front of the URL to indicate whether the connection is secure or non-secure.
Port
Port number that the CDB server is using to communicate
The default port number is 80.
Virtual Directory
Virtual directory where the CDB server is installed
The virtual directory indicates the location of the application in the web server. In most cases, the value is BMCCDB, unless it was changed during CDB installation.
Username
(Optional) User name to be used when accessing the CDB server
Password
(Optional) Password to be used when accessing the CDB server
- Click Test Connection.The Connection Status field displays the result.
- After the connection has been verified, click OK.The profile appears in the Available CDB Server Profiles list.
Click Save Changes to complete the update, or Close to cancel.
