We are releasing version 22.4 of the BMC AMI Ops Automation for Batch ThruPut product, formerly known as BMC Compuware ThruPut Manager.
What's new
This section summarizes the changes or new features in this release.
- BMC Compuware ThruPut Manager Automation Edition (AE) is renamed as BMC AMI Ops Automation for Batch ThruPut. The Standard Edition (SE) and Automation Edition Plus (AE+) are not renamed and continue to be available only for existing customers.
- Control File performance parameters use the JES2 MASDEF parameters by default, including support for MASDEF CYCLEMGT=AUTO.
- DCS now supports the use of XCF for communications by default. We recommend XCF with DCS and upgrading all existing installations to version 22.4 of ThruPut Manager.
- By default, DCS does not manage jobs in an Exempt Class. You can now enable TM Customization Option UM0052, to revert to the previous behavior.
- SMF recording for SLM and DCS records is now automatically enabled if the SLM and DCS components are active.
- We have added a new Health Checker to verify that the ThruPut Manager SMF record type is set and the active SMFPRMxx member of PARMLIB permits the record type. All enabled and applicable subtypes are logged.
- The product now supports for early DFSMShsm data set recalls and virtual volume staging. The data sets are now accumulated and other statistics are logged in a new SMF record described by distributed macro DTMSMFHV, resulting in reduced elapsed job runtime. The savings per job are reported in the Job Summary Report.
- SLM Accelerated Job Selection now allows you to specify the Batch Importance threshold and Production Importance threshold during installation. The threshold specifies when the jobs are considered to be important and ready for job selection.
- We have reduced the Minimum Target Time for both General Services Service Groups and Production Service Groups from 30 seconds to 5 seconds. We have also reduced the minimum delta between Acceptable and Target, and Critical and Acceptable to 5 seconds.
- New JESplex members that are not defined in the active SLM Policy no longer cause SLM to quiesce on the other defined members. Defining the new member in the Automation File will allow SLM to commence normal processing on the new member. All other members are unaffected.
