Syntax

Description

? | HELP

Requests the command syntax from HELP.

V(volser1,volser2,...)

A list of DASD volume serial numbers separated by commas. If the actual volume serial number you want to code has a trailing asterisk, then you must enclose the volume serial number in apostrophes. For example, to display a volume that has a volume serial number of 'ODD*', you enter the command:

/VOL DISPLAY V('ODD*')—There must be an exact match between the volume specified in the DISPLAY command and the entry in the volume list. For example:

/VOL DISPLAY V(RESB*)—This command will display the attributes associated with the RESB* entry, if it exists. The asterisk here is not used as a pattern matching character to request that all entries in the list starting with RESB  be displayed.

ALL

Requests that all DASD volume serial numbers in the BMC ThruPut Manager DASD Volume List be displayed. If no keywords are specified, this is the default.

IGNORE

Requests a display of all DASD volume serial numbers that are marked as IGNORE in the BMC ThruPut Manager DASD Volume List.

The short form of this keyword is IGN.

MIGRATE

Requests a display of the DASD volume serial numbers that are marked as MIGRATE in the BMC ThruPut Manager DASD Volume List.

The short form of this keyword is MIG.

Information
Example

This example shows how to display information about DASD volumes:

/VOL DISPLAY ALL

The above command could produce the following output:

DTM0562I VOLUME DISPLAY
PREFIX  VOLSER  STATUS
        MIGRAT  MIGRATE
        RV0345  RESIDENT
        TEST03  UNAVAILABLE
MYVOL*          RESIDENT
             -or-
DTM0561I NO VOLSER ENTRIES FOUND

This example shows how to display information about specific DASD volumes:

/VOL D V(MYVOL1,MYVOL2)
Warning

Important

  • If no volume serial number is specified, all DASD volumes that are marked with special status are displayed.
  • If the Job Analyzer finds a job referencing a DASD volume that is UNAVAILABLE, it requeues the job in the MHS_VOL category and removes its system affinity so that it cannot be selected. Once the volume becomes available, the system affinity is restored automatically. You can also make the job eligible for selection manually using the / MHS_VOL RELEASE command.
