Syntax

Description

? | HELP

Requests the command syntax from help.

agent-name

Represents a two level binding agent name. If the agent is not active, then the operator is informed. The binding agent must be defined with the PERM attribute, unless the FORCE keyword is used.

ALL

Specifies that a permanent binding agent be completely deactivated. This is to be used only in situations where the status of a given permanent agent is uncertain and deactivation is desired.

FORCE

Forces the deactivation of binding agents regardless of their attributes. It deactivates Permanent and job-related binding agents. In the case of job-related binding agents, this occurs while the job that activated the agent is still executing. Deactivating binding agents using the FORCE keyword is not a normal situation; however, it might be warranted under certain circumstances.
For example, an ONLINE region that has, in  its JECL, activated the "wrong" agent. Under normal circumstances, to deactivate the agent you need to bring down the region. This might not be appropriate for an ONLINE region. The JBS DEACTIVATE command with the FORCE keyword can be used to address the situation.

GLOBAL

Indicates that the resource to be deactivated must be activated with the GLOBAL attribute. If not, the operator is informed, and no action is taken.

SYS(system)

Indicates that the named agent is to be deactivated if it originally was activated as LOCAL and in the same system as indicated by the parameter "system". If you not provide this keyword then the "system" is assumed to be the same as the one where the command was issued.

  • system—Represents the four-character JES2 system-ID.

XMIT

Indicates that the named agent is to be deactivated if it was activated with the XMIT attribute.
