Log in to an HCI connection


You have to log in if you want to perform any action in the HCI connection or if you want to search for data sets. You can log in to the HCI connection in the following ways:

  • through the Log In option
  • through command palette

To log in to an HCI connection by using Log In option

  1. Right-click the HCI connection and click Log In.
    The Log In to HCI Connection panel is displayed.
  2. Enter the user ID and password and press Enter. A successful login message is displayed if the user ID and password are correct. If the user ID and password are incorrect, a notification message is displayed for a failed login.

    Warning

    Important

    If you have stored your credentials when you created the HCI connection, you will automatically log in.

To log in to an HCI connection by using the command palette

  1. From the menu bar, click View and then click Command Palette. You can also press Ctrl+Shift+to open Command Palette.
  2. In the Command Palette, start typing Log In. You can view Workbench Explorer: Log In to HCI Connection command in the list.

  3. Select Workbench Explorer: log in to HCI Connection.

    Warning

    Important

    Log In through the command palette covers the following scenarios:

    • If you have not created any HCI connection and try to log in, Workbench Explorer prompts with the error message No HCI Connection Exists and shows the Create HCI Connection option. You can click Create HCI Connection to create an HCI connection.
    • When a single HCI Connection is present, the connection would be established with the present HCI Connection.
    • When multiple HCI Connections are present, you can view the quick pick with the list of inactive connections. You can select the required HCI connection.
  4. Type your user ID and password and press Enter. A successful login message is displayed if the user ID and password are correct. If the user ID and password are incorrect, a notification message is displayed for a failed login.

    If you have stored your credentials when you created the HCI connection, you will automatically log in.


 

Tip: For faster searching, add an asterisk to the end of your partial query. Example: cert*
