ZOOM (Zoom Column)

The ZOOM primary command toggles the display width of certain columns. The ZOOM command affects only these columns:

  • Numerical columns abbreviated to allow more columns to display at one time
  • Non-numerical columns that have an asterisk (*) as the last character of the column heading.

In some windows, columns are abbreviated so more columns can be displayed at one time, enabling you to see the types of columns available, but not necessarily the complete contents. To see the contents of an abbreviated column, type ZOOM in the COMMAND field and place the cursor on the column. When you press Enter, the column expands to show the full width and other columns are adjusted as necessary.

ZOOM acts as a toggle; to return a column to an abbreviated form, use the ZOOM command again.

Using ZOOM Command for Long Object Names

DB2 object names can be up to 128 characters long. File-AID for Db2 Object Administration recognizes and supports long object names.

The asterisk * at the end of the column header indicates that the column width has been truncated and truncated long object names are underlined.

To display and enter long object names type the ZOOM primary command, move the cursor into the column heading to expand and press <Enter> (see the following figure for an example in an Edit window).

File-AID for Db2 Object Administration expands the column as shown in the following figure.

Now you can view the full length of the object name. Use the LEFT and RIGHT scrolling commands to display the rest of the long name column.

When you are in an Edit window you can now enter the long name.

To restore the multi column display enter the ZOOM command again. The asterisk * at the end of the column header indicates that the column width has been truncated and truncated long names are underlined as shown in the following figure.

When the ZOOM command is in effect. File-AID for Db2 Object Administration automatically adjusts the width of the long name column while scrolling through a list of objects with long object names.

Tip: For faster searching, add an asterisk to the end of your partial query. Example: cert*
