Shared Repository Connection
A shared repository is a storage area for objects that reside on other client machines or on a server. The Shared Repository Connection dialog box allows database administrators to create a new shared repository and allows all users to add a reference to a repository from their machines so they can access objects in that repository.
To create a new shared repository
Creating a new shared repository creates new tables in the database. The following procedure creates the repository and sets up the connector template for that repository. Only those with database administrator privileges can create new shared repositories.
- Ensure that the user has the appropriate permissions to the database that will house the repository.
- From the File-AID/EX perspective's Tools view, select the Administration section, then select Repository Management. The Repository Management Utility launches.
- Select the Repositories tab.
- Click Create Repository. The Shared Repositories dialog box appears.
- In Name this shared repository, enter a name for the repository and click OK. The Shared Repository Connection dialog box appears.
- Create a new shared repository connection or use an existing connection template. For more information, see Connecting-to-Data.
- Click OK. A confirmation message states that the repository was successfully created. The shared repository is created in the database using the specified connector template and is added to the list box on the Repositories tab.
