Workbench licensing


Workbench for Eclipse features are licensed using one of three BMC licensing mechanisms:

Workbench for Eclipse base features

License Management System (LMS)

Hosted on the mainframe. Host Explorer requires at least one BMC AMI mainframe product license. All other features interface with a  BMC AMI mainframe product, requiring that product to be licensed.

  • Code Insights
  • Data Studio
  • Total Test

Options:

  • On-premise via BMC AMI Common Enterprise Services (CES)
  • Cloud hosted by  BMC AMI.

Licenses are leased for a defined time period. Refer to Leased licensingfor more information.

File-AID/EX

Distributed License Management

Distributed client or server-based licensing.

Warning

Important

We have enhanced the security for CES cloud licensing.

We recommend that you upgrade the BMC AMI DevX Workbench for Eclipse product to version 23.01.01 to avoid any issues with cloud licenses of the Workbench for Eclipse product and its product plug-ins.


Leased licensing

The following Workbench for Eclipse features use leased licenses that expire after a certain period:

  • Code Insights
  • Data Studio
  • Total Test

Licensing of these features can be done through BMC cloud licensing or on-premise using CES. If you are interested in leveraging BMC cloud licensing service for Workbench for Eclipse's licensed features, contact your BMC sales representative or contact BMC Support. If you want to use on-premise licensing through CES, configure the connection to CES.
