Release notes: Version 20.14.01 of BMC AMI Common Enterprise Services (formerly known as BMC Compuware Enterprise Services)

We are releasing version 20.14.01 of the BMC AMI Common Enterprise Services (CES) web suite (formerly known as BMC Compuware Enterprise Services), which includes web plug-ins for the following products:

Rebranding of products

As part of the BMC Automated Mainframe Intelligence (AMI) transformation, starting with this release, the CES web suite and web products are known as indicated in the Rebranded name column in the following table. We have updated many of our product panels and views to reflect the new product names. There are no changes to the licenses. For more information, see BMC AMI Common Enterprise Services for the product documentation.

We have changed the default directory structure where CES is installed, for new installations. For more information, see the installation instructions in Milestones 1, 2, and 3 in the BMC AMI Web Products Installation and Configuration guide.

Enhancements to BMC AMI Common Enterprise Services

We have added the following enhancements to BMC AMI Common Enterprise Services (CES):

We have enhanced the security of CES by addressing security vulnerabilities.
We have added a new field, Number of duplicates, in the Abend-AID webhooks configuration. As an Operations user, when multiple abends occur and you want to investigate the issue, you can use this field to notify you when the duplicate suppression is invoked. You can specify the number of times an event criteria must match before triggering the webhook. For more information, see Webhooks.

Enhancements to BMC AMI iStrobe

The Report Demand Distribution report now includes the TCB address, so the XML is also updated with the new TCB address. For more information, see Resource-Demand-Distribution.

Enhancements to BMC AMI DevX Code Pipeline

We have added the following enhancements to BMC AMI DevX Code Pipeline:

When creating an Assignment by using a REST API, you can now use a Sandbox Codeline.
We have enhanced the Set Information API to return the Change Type.
When fetching deployment package details, you can now use the ActiveTime field in the Deployment information API to return the active time for the specified set.
As a developer, you can now use a Jenkins Job, GitHub Actions, and Azure DevOps to create a Sandbox assignment and load tasks into the Sandbox assignment by calling the Code Pipeline CLI, syncGitToIspw.

Corrected issues

This section summarizes the corrected issues in this version.

Product	Issue description
BMC AMI Common Enterprise Services	If you are added as a new user to a local CES installation, CES prompts you to change the password and redirects you to the Login dialog box. However, after you modify the password, the Login button does not work.
BMC AMI Common Enterprise Services	When you add a Task to Code Pipeline by using REST APIs, you get a response confirming that the Task has been added. However, clicking the URL in the response results in a 404 error message and you cannot get task-related information.
BMC AMI iStrobe	Multiple instances of the following Java Memory Usage warning message are displayed in the istrobe.log log file: WARN [ProfileDataParser] Java Memory usage We have fixed this. This warning no longer appears at the Information logging-level.
BMC AMI Security Session Monitor	In Session Monitor, when you export large archive searches to PDF, there is no UI message to indicate the export status, and a Page Unresponsive message is displayed.

Known issues

This section summarizes the known issues in this version.

Product	Issue description
BMC AMI Common Enterprise Services	The Update Center and Webhooks UI and online help, and the API documentation continue to display the old product names and labels.
	Some of the help pages for CES and the web products are not invoked as expected.
	When you update the settings under Administration > Web Server > Ports tab, CES restart fails and the following javaScript error is displayed: $.getLoadingTimeOutTime is not a function Workaround: Manually restart the CES Web Server.
BMC AMI iStrobe	The Db2 Top SQL Activity report provides the < and > navigation icons to move to the next SQL statement within the treemap. However, these icons do not work for profiles created by using iStrobe version 20.09.03 or earlier. Workaround: For navigational support, you must export these profiles and then reimport them.
	Upgrading iStrobe to version 20.11.01 might fail when the following conditions exist: You are upgrading from iStrobe version 20.10.03 or earlier to version 20.11.01. You have enabled SMF data collection. You have not configured to archive or delete SMF data at regular intervals. Workaround: Delete older records to make sure that the SMF_JOB_STEP_TERMINATION table has a maximum of 25 million records.
	Transferred profiles from Strobe to iStrobe are not appearing in myStrobe when you use the Allow profiles to be processed asynchronously option (under iStrobe Administration > General Configuration). Workaround: Clear Allow profiles to be processed asynchronously and click Apply.

Downloading the release

Warning

If you are upgrading to CES 20.xx from version 19.xx or earlier, you must use a full CES installer. Using a 20.xx P2 update on a 19.xx or earlier installation might corrupt your installation.
Upgrades from these versions are not supported via the Update Center or the P2 Repository Update maintenance file. However, data from earlier versions is maintained during upgrades.
The execces.sh and execcesSystemD.sh files must reflect the change to the new Eclipse Launcher. You must update the version number to org.eclipse.equinox.launcher_1.5.0.v20180512-1130.jar to restart the CES job and complete your update.

Important

If you are upgrading a Unix System Services (USS) installation that uses CES version 20.06.03 or earlier, you must first update the version number of the CESAMN member in your CES JCL library to org.eclipse.equinox.launcher_1.5.0.v20180512-1130.jar to restart the CES job, complete your upgrade, and make sure that the CESAMN member in your CES JCL library reflects the change to the new Eclipse Launcher.
During the CES upgrade process, the installer might need to restart CES. If this does not happen automatically, manually restart CES after the upgrade.
