Deleting entries

By selecting process 4 (Delete), you can delete registration entries, Shared Table entries, or Custom Hardware Dictionary entries. The panels displayed depend on the values you entered on the DPICDS Administration panel for the selection criteria and for the record level.

If you specified blanks for all of the selection criteria for a registration entry and All for record level, all records in the DPICDS are listed and will be deleted except for the Shared Table and Custom Hardware Dictionary records.

If you selected a specific system, database, or segment entry, only the records for the entry specified are listed and will be deleted.

If you specified an asterisk (*) for the IMS ID, a valid name for database, and left the segment field blank, all segment entries for that database specified are listed and will be deleted.

If you specified an asterisk (*) for the IMS ID, a valid name for the database, and an asterisk (*) for the segment, only the specified database record is deleted.

If you specified a Shared Table name that you want to delete, the Shared Table record and the segment registration and statistics records at the RUN and ARCHIVE level corresponding to the Shared Table are listed. When you delete the Shared Table, only the Shared Table records are deleted. The segment registration and statistics records are not deleted; they are updated to reflect the Static Huffman compression technique.

If you specified a Custom Hardware Dictionary name that you want to delete, the Custom Hardware Dictionary record and the segment registration and statistics records at the RUN and ARCHIVE level corresponding to the Custom Hardware Dictionary are listed. When you delete the Custom Hardware Dictionary, only the Custom Hardware Dictionary records are deleted. The segment registration and statistics records are not deleted; they are updated to reflect the Static Huffman compression technique.

If you provided a DBDLIB on the DATA PACKER/IMS primary menu (see Using-the-DATA-PACKER-IMS-Primary-Menu), segments are listed in hierarchical order. If you did not provide a DBDLIB, segments are listed in alphabetical order.
