Using extract data sets
The Recovery utility offers the use of log extract data sets and CA extract data sets as techniques for preventing reprocessing during restart after a failure, for overlapping task processing, and for improving performance.
You create and control the use of extract data sets with a combination of keywords, control statements, and dynamic allocation models or DD statements in the JCL. You can use extract log data sets and CA extract data sets independently (create one without creating the other).
