System requirements for CHANGE ACCUMULATION PLUS
Item | Requirement |
|---|---|
The Change Accumulation utility operates on any processor that supports the z/OS, OS/390, or MVS/ESA operating system. BMC licenses specific products to run on specific CPUs. The utility can process RECONs that are stored on Extended Address Volume (EAV) devices. | |
Operating system (OS) | The Change Accumulation utility supports all IBM supported versions of z/OS, OS/390, and MVS/ESA as of the date of this publication. |
IMS | You must be a licensed user of the IMS Database Manager product. The Change Accumulation utility supports the versions and releases of IMS that IBM supports as of the date of this publication. |
ISPF | The IBM Interactive System Productivity Facility (ISPF) is required for the optional online interface. The Change Accumulation utility supports the versions and releases of ISPF that IBM supports as of the date of this publication. |
Sort | You must have an IBM compatible sort/merge utility available. |
System requirements for IMAGE COPY PLUS
Hardware
The hardware requirements are the same as those required by the IBM IMS Database Image Copy utility (more virtual storage may be required).
The Snapshot Copy and Instant Snapshot functions exploit the technology that is available with intelligent storage devices.
The utility can process databases and RECONs that are stored on Extended Address Volume (EAV) devices.
Operating system
The Image Copy utility supports all IBM supported versions of z/OS, OS/390, and MVS/ESA as of the date of this publication.
IMS
You must be a licensed user of the IMS Database Manager product.
The Image Copy utility supports all IBM supported versions of IMS as of the date of this publication. The High Availability Large Database (HALDB) database organization is supported.
SNAPSHOT UPGRADE FEATURE for IMS (SUF for IMS)
The SNAPSHOT UPGRADE FEATURE for IMS (SUF for IMS) component is provided with the Image Copy utility as a no-cost feature. SUF supports the Snapshot Copy function and the Instant Snapshot function of the Image Copy utility. For more information, see SNAPSHOT UPGRADE FEATURE for IMS documentation.
SUF for IMS provides a subset of the functions of the EXTENDED BUFFER MANAGER for IMS (XBM for IMS) product. If you have XBM for IMS installed, it supports the Snapshot Copy and Instant Snapshot functions. In addition to including SUF for IMS functionality, XBM for IMS can exploit the IBM System z Integrated Information Processor (zIIP), exploits operating system expanded storage, reduces physical I/Os for IMS read requests, ranks cached data by user-specified priority and allocation size, generates performance statistics, and provides other features and benefits that are related to buffer management and improving database performance. The Image Copy utility works with XBM for IMS in the same way that it works with SUF for IMS. For more information about XBM for IMS, see SNAPSHOT UPGRADE FEATURE for IMS documentation.
Database Utilities Subsystem (DBUSS)
The DBUSS requires the following:
- An APF-authorized library
- 15 KB ECSA for the subsystem base
- 1040 bytes CSA below the 16 MB line
- 7 KB ECSA/ for Image Copy utility support within the subsystem
- 320 bytes CSA for each active Image Copy utility data set that is using the subsystem. Although the 320 bytes (plus 320 bytes for each additional data set) are required when using the subsystem, this amount is allocated to the BMC AMI Backup and Recovery for IMS or ICP job, rather than to the subsystem.
Total region size as follows:
1024K + (1200K * n)
In this equation, n is the number of tasks using the subsystem at one time. For instance, if three asynchronous tasks are using the subsystem, you would specify a region size of at least 4624 KB. If all tasks using the subsystem are synchronous, you need a region size of at least 2224 KB.
System requirements for RECOVERY PLUS for IMS
Hardware
The hardware requirements are the same as those required by the IBM IMS Database Recovery utility (more virtual storage may be required).
The utility can process databases and RECONs that are stored on Extended Address Volume (EAV) devices.
Operating system
The Recovery utility supports all IBM-supported versions of IBM z/OS, OS/390, and MVS/ESA as of the date of this publication.
IMS
You must be a licensed user of the IMS Database Manager product.
The Recovery utility supports all IBM-supported versions of IMS as of the date of this publication. The High Availability Large Database (HALDB) database organization is supported.
The Recovery utility supports recovery of DEDB databases.
ISPF
The IBM Interactive System Productivity Facility (ISPF), Version 2.3 or later, is required for the optional ISPF interface.
Sort
You must have an IBM-compatible sort/merge utility available when running the Recovery utility.
SNAPSHOT UPGRADE FEATURE for IMS
To restore an Instant Snapshot copy that was produced by the BMC Image Copy utility, you must have the appropriate level of the SNAPSHOT UPGRADE FEATURE (SUF) component installed and active.
