Enabling IMS-managed ACBs

This topic describes the BMC AMI Recovery Manager for IMS (IRM) functions that IMS-managed ACBs affect and how to enable ACBs for both the ISPF interface and batch processing in IRM.

Areas affected by IMS-managed ACBs

When you enable IMS-managed ACBs, the following IRM functions are affected and might require validation or updates:

  • Building a group via the ISPF UI
  • Building a group in batch via (IRMBGPMN)
  • Validating or rebuilding group function
  • Recovery JCL generation

To enable IMS-managed ACBs

  1. Update the BMCIRM CLIST:
    • Replace the existing version of the BMCIRM CLIST with the new version in the SAMP library delivered through PTF BQQ7539.
    • Modify the CLIST in accordance with your site requirements.

Important
If you install IRM by using BMC Installation System 4.11.00 or later, the updated CLIST is already provided, so you don't need to copy it manually from the SAMP library.

  1. Start the IRM started task.

Important
The IMS Control Region doesn't need to be active.

  1.  Run the IRM UI CLIST by specifying an IMS V15 RESLIB.

Example
EX ‘BMCBRI.QA.CLIST(newclist)’ ‘RESLIB(IMSVS.R15.RESLIB)’.

  1. On the IRM Primary Menu panel, select option 3.
  2. On the IRMOP00 panel, select option 2 (IMS or sharegroup).
  3. Locate the record associated with the active RMGR by entering in the Action column for the record for which YES is displayed under Associated with this RMGR.
  4. On the IRMSM00 panel, press Enter.
  5. On the IRMLB00 (MDALIB) panel, press Enter.
  6. On the IRMLB00 (DBDLIB) panel:
    1. (Optional) Remove the DBDLIBs (Database Definition (DBD) libraries).
    2. Press Enter.
  7. On the IRMLB00 (PSBLIB) panel:
    1. (Optional) Remove the PSBLIBs (Program Specification Block (PSB) libraries).
    2. Press Enter.
  8. On the IRMSM02 panel, enter the name of the IMS Catalog BSDS data set.
  9. Press PF3 (END) to save the updated record.

To enable managed-ACBs support during a batch group build (IRMBGPMN)

  1. Add an IMS Version 15 RESLIB to the STEPLIB DD concatenation.
  2. Submit the job.
  3. After the job starts, verify enablement by checking the JESMSGLG log for the following message:
BMC76868I - IMS MANAGED ACBS ACTIVE
