Perform VSAM logging

This option applies only to application programs that use the local VSAM access services of AR/CTL.

In a batch environment where the application program is updating local VSAM data sets, AR/CTL automatically can prepare the VSAM data sets for restart. During execution of the batch job, AR/CTL can log changes to the VSAM data sets. If the execution terminates abnormally, AR/CTL automatically can perform dynamic backout of the changes before step termination. If a system failure occurs, AR/CTL automatically can perform dynamic backout when the step is restarted. AR/CTL does not perform logging or dynamic backout for VSAM data sets that use AR/CTL remote VSAM access services. For more information, see Using.

Use the Perform VSAM Logging option to control whether AR/CTL logs changes to local VSAM data sets.
