This topic explains how to create and run a basic log scan to generate an audit report from Db2 logs by using BMC AMI Log Master for Db2. This process helps you quickly see results from one of the product’s primary goals, auditing and analyzing Db2 log activity.

Before you begin

  • Make sure that you have a working Db2 subsystem on z/OS.
  • Verify that BMC AMI Log Master for Db2 is installed and configured in your environment.
  • Make sure that you have credentials and network access to the Db2 subsystem.
  • Confirm that you have access to the ISPF panels or the interface where Log Master runs.
  • Identify the time frame or filters you want to use for your first log scan (for example, the last 24 hours).

To define and run a log scan

Step 1: Access the Log Master interface

Open the ISPF panels or your preferred interface for BMC AMI Log Master for Db2.

Step 2: Create a new log scan

  • Specify the start and end time for the scan.
  • Select the Db2 subsystem and include active and archive logs.
  • Apply basic filters such as user ID or table name if needed.

Step 3: Choose the output type

  • Select Report as the output option.
  • Use the default report format or customize it to include details such as user, plan, and transaction status.

Step 4: Submit the job

  • Review the generated JCL and submit it for execution.
  • Wait for the job to complete and verify the output in the designated data set.

Step 5: Review the results

Open the report to see the audited changes from the Db2 log. Confirm that the report includes the expected transactions and filters.
