UIM server and console requirements
UIM server requirements
The UIM server resides on the mainframe and handles communication between the console and BMC console-enabled mainframe products and features. It has the following requirements:
A free TCP/IP port must be available.
Your TCP/IP administrator assigns a TCP/IP port.
A port number is the address of a TCP/IP application on an IBM z/OS image. The UIM server has one port number that clients use to contact the UIM server. The port number is typically a number from 1 through 65535 where host name (LPAR) and port number are unique. Ports 1 through 1024 are normally reserved as well-known ports.
- You must assign a user ID with an OMVS segment to the procedure name for the UIM server started task.
- Your security administrator assigns this user ID. An OMVS segment is required for the UIM server started task so that a BMC product can access The Open Group UNIX System Services.
- For the user name under which your started task runs in your security authorization facility (SAF), provide READ access to the CSFKEYS and CSFSERV classes when running the UIM server with:
- TLS enabled
- Private keys stored in ICSF
Console requirements
A console based on the UIM framework runs on a client workstation under the Microsoft Windows operating system. The console communicates with the UIM server through TCP/IP technology.
A console requires a personal computer that meets the following requirements:
- Oracle Java 8 or later runtime
- Microsoft Windows XP or later
- 105 MB of disk space
- 256 MB of RAM
- SVGA or higher video resolution (800 x 600 256 color)
- A web browser
