Installing a console
Before you begin
Review the console requirements atUIM server and console requirements.
You will need:
- The name of the host computer on which the UIM server is running
- The UIM server’s port number
- Access to a supported web browser
If implementing Transport Layer Security (TLS) before installing the console, you need to have completed the implementation procedure described in Defining-your-TLS-environment.
If you do not know the host name and port number, consult your system administrator.
To launch a console
From a web browser, enter the URL for a UIM server.
Use the following syntax, replacing the variables with your information:
protocol://uimServerHostName:uimPortNumber/
The variables are:
- protocol is HTTP for a nonencrypted, nonsecured transfer protocol or HTTPS for an encrypted, secured transfer protocol (TLS secured).
- uimServerHostName is the name of the host computer on which the UIM server is running.
- uimPortNumber is the port number that is assigned to the UIM server.
On the resulting web page, click the launch link for the console in which you are interested.
A shortcut for the console appears under BMC Software on your workstation's start menu, and the login dialog is displayed.

- Root certificate authority certificate is not in the truststore
You can continue running with unrestricted access or quit to add or update the certificate.
