User roles
The user's role determines access to system features, such as which tabs or functions a user can access.
A user's role is determined either by group information from the user database (such as LDAP or MSAD) or by the user's role preference. You apply roles to a group, whose users are then subject to the roles. This method allows users to perform system interactions that they have the authority to perform, but restricts them from interactions that fall outside of their authority.
For information about roles and access restrictions, see Managing roles and access restrictions.
For a description of the modes that you can select for local users, see Configuring-local-authentication.
