Triggering deployments with BMC Release Process Management

You can use the automation framework in BMC Release Process Management to create a request that triggers deployments of packages already configured in the deployment server.

1. Create a BMC Release Process Management request with step automation to create the package instance and trigger the deployment.

2. Select the property values, which must match the values defined in the deployment server.

   Note

   A system setting, deployment_properties_take_precedence, has been added to support overriding deployment properties from BMC Release Process Management. This enables you to decide whether you want the 4.2 or 4.3 order of preference for deployment process properties. See Understanding-system-preferences.

3. In the BMC Release Process Management interface, select the environment for the step.
4. In BMC VaraLogix Q Deployment Automation, select a deployment route.
5. Select the deployment environment.
   If the BMC Release Process Management environment name matches one in BMC VaraLogix Q Deployment Automation, the deployment environment is automatically displayed. Otherwise, you must select the deployment environment.
