Configuring local authentication

Local authentication uses the local system database to store user information, including passwords. Each user belongs to a unique group, identical to his or her user name. Local user accounts have one of the following modes:

  • Standard: Typical user
  • Admin: Similar to root, can do anything
  • Report: Can only view Report tab (does not count against licenses)
  • Email: Defines an email address (does not count against licenses)
  • Disabled: Account is disabled

To configure local authentication

  1. Click the System tab.
  2. From the left menu, select Settings.
  3. To the right of the settings, click Login Config.
  4. From the pop-up menu, select the Local Account Database.
  5. Click Set and Configure.
  6. (Optional) Enter a logon ID and password to test the local account database.

    Note

If a user had previously authenticated with MSAD or LDAP, a password hash exists in the system database from the last logon. As a result, the user can authenticate using the previous logon credentials.
