Integrating with Change Management
BMC Change Management is a component of the BMC Remedy ITSM Suite. Integrating BMC Change Management with TrueSight Operations Management has the following benefits:
- Enables TrueSight Operations Management to receive notifications of change requests configured on specific CIs from BMC Change Management.
Enables the TrueSight console to display the attributes of the change requests that are configured in BMC Change Management. You can view these attributes in the Event Details page. For more information, see Viewing event details in the TrueSight console.
Creates an automated blackout policy for the CI that you configure for maintenance in BMC Change Management. For more information, see Creating a new component-based blackout policy.
Enables integration between TrueSight Operations Management and Atrium CMDB. For more information, see:
Supported software versions
For information about the supported software versions, see Supported products and versions.
Enabling the integration
After installing the TrueSight Presentation Server, perform the following steps from the TrueSight console:
- Go to Administration > Integrations.
- Click the Configure Infrastructure Management Servers with BMC CMDB menu and then click Edit.
- Enter the CMDB and UDDI details.
- Select a protocol.
- To use the HTTPS protocol for the integration, perform the following steps:
- Import the BMC Change Management HTTPS certificate to <Presentation Server installation directory>\truesightpserver\modules\jre\lib\security\cacerts
For example, from the <Presentation Server installation directory>\truesightpserver\module\jre\bin folder, execute the command:
keytool -import -alias <certificateNameAlias> -file <certificateFileName> -keystore <Presentation Server installation directory>\truesightpserver\modules\jre\lib\security\cacerts -storepass changeit - Import the BMC Change Management HTTPS certificate to <Presentation Server installation directory>\truesightpserver\conf\secure\tspstruststore.ts truststore by running the following command from the <Presentation Server installation directory>\truesightpserver\module\jre\bin folder:
keytool -import -alias <certificateNameAlias> -file <certificateFileName> -keystore <Presentation Server installation directory>\truesightpserver\conf\secure\tspstruststore.ts -storepass changeit - Restart the TrueSight Presentation Server.
- Import the BMC Change Management HTTPS certificate to <Presentation Server installation directory>\truesightpserver\modules\jre\lib\security\cacerts
- Select Activate Integration and click Save.
- In BMC Change Management, update the password for the csm_user user account to match the password in BMC Operations Management.
Changing the password for the csm_user user account
You need to ensure the password for the csm_user user account is the same in both Operations Management and Change Management.
To change the password, perform the following steps:
Operations Management:
- In the TrueSight console, go to Administration > User Accounts.
- Select Manage via Remedy SSO.
- Change the password through the Remedy SSO console.
Change Management:
- Go to Application Administration Console > Custom Configuration > Change Management > Advanced Options > Change CI Event Notification to BPPM > BPPM Subscription.
- Change the password in the Password field.
Click Test Connection to ensure connectivity between Change Management and Operations Management.
- Click Save.
Considerations for upgrade customers
If you are an existing BMC ProactiveNet customer upgrading to Operations Management, you need to manually delete the registered BMC ProactiveNet instance from BMC Change Management in the CAI:AdapterEventConfiguration form.
Delete the entry in which the Adapter Instance Name field contains BPPM:<hostname:port> and not the entry in which the Adapter Instance Name field contains Infrastructure-Change.
- After upgrading the BMC TrueSight Infrastructure Management server, details of the existing integration with BMC Change Management are not automatically populated in the Integrations page of the TrueSight console.
- During migration and post migration, any pending change events will not be consumed by the Presentation Server.
These changes need to be redone by BMC Change Management in order to have it in the Presentation Server.
