To import the Infrastructure Management repository

BMC periodically releases new versions of the Infrastructure Management repository. Perform the following steps to import the latest version of the repository. You can import the repository using one of the following options:

To import the full Repository with predefined packages and policies

TipChoose this option to get started with commonly used packages and policies that are created automatically for you.
  1. In the navigation pane, expand Administration, select Repository, and select the Installation Components tab.
  2. ClickImportRepo.PNGImport.
  3. In the Import a Repository or Solution dialog box, select Full repository with Predefined Packages and Policies and click Continue.
  4. Browse and select the repository file from the Presentation Server file system, and click Import.
NoteYou can import predefined packages and policies only from the Infrastructure Management PATROL base repository version 10.5.00 or later. The extended repository does not contain predefined packages and policies.
  5. Provide the following information or accept the default information. All fields are mandatory.
    1. BMC Software Products Installation Directory
Specify the installation directory. Note that the BMC PATROL products are installed one level below the BMC products installation directory.
    2. PATROL Default Account Properties
Provide the PATROL default account credentials. You must create this account manually before continuing with the installation. If you plan to use a domain account, enter DOMAIN_NAME\account name; otherwise, enter the local account.
    3. System Root (or root privileged via sudo) Account Properties
For UNIX operating systems, provide the System Root account details.
    4. Integration Service Configuration
The Integration Service variable is used for automatic registration of the PATROL Agent with Infrastructure Management.
Enter the Integration Services to connect to. Use the format Protocol:Integration Service Hostname:PortNumber. For example tcp:IS1:3183, where 3183 is the port on which the Integration Service host listens for an incoming PATROL Agent auto-registration connection.
TipBy default, this field lists the first non-staging Integration Service in the BmcRealm tenant. If this condition does not apply, the first non-staging Integration Service across all tenants is listed.
    5. Predefined Policies
If there are existing policies with the same name, you can choose to overwrite them or not.
The selected archive file is imported to the repository and extracted. You can close the window during the import process. The predefined packages are created at Administration > Repository > Deployable Packages tab. You can delete predefined packages but cannot edit them.
NoteSince predefined packages include the PATROL Agent, you have to manually deploy the packages and not through the TrueSight console.
The predefined policies are created at Configuration > Infrastructure Policies. By default, the predefined policies are enabled with a precedence in the 900 range.

To import a custom monitoring solution

NoteYou must delete the existing custom monitoring solution or import a later version of it. All the solution files are not updated if you import the same version of the custom monitoring solution.
Before you can import a custom monitoring solution, you must build and package the monitoring solution.
  1. Use the PCIG tool to build and package the custom monitoring solution. For more information, see Building and packaging custom monitoring solutions.
  2. Access the PCIG tool depending on the repository version installed:
    • Repository version 10.0.03 and later: From the <Presentation Server installation directory>\TrueSightPServer\truesightpserver\modules\cma\pproxy\depot_directory\bmc_products\tools\pcig directory.
    • Repository version earlier than 10.0.03: From EPD. See Downloading PATROL Installation Utility.
  3. Log on to the TrueSight console. In the navigation pane, expand Administration, select Repository, and select the Installation Components tab.

To create a deployable package

As an administrator, you can select PATROL Agent and monitoring solutions to create a deployable package. The components can then be installed together using the deployable package. You can reuse the deployable packages, or deploy the packages to multiple computers. Ensure that you have reviewed the deployable packages best practices and have imported the Infrastructure Management PATROL repository before you start creating the deployable packages.
