  1. Select following:
    1. Create New Collector
    2. Use Existing Collector

  2. Select data types (source supported data types will automatically be available in the UI; ensure Destination can ingest chosen data types)

  3. Collector (Source Mediator)
    1. Event and Alert Data Type (Source)
    2. Metric Data Type (Source)
    3. Topology Data Type (Source)

  4. Distributors (Destination Mediator)
    1. Event Data Type (Destination)
    2. Metric Data Type (Destination)
    3. Topology Data Type (Destination)

  5. Select Continue

Step 6a: Configure Source Metrics



Step 6a: Configure Source Metrics

  1. Select Data Type to access configuration screens 
    1. Metric (selected)
    2. Event
    3. Topology

  2. Schedule Name: the scheduled frequency which StreamWeaver will collect from SolarWinds VMAN / VIM (5 Minutes recommended)

  3. Applications: a selection of metric sources resulting from a SolarWinds VMAN / VIM node groups query will be automatically populated

  4. Data Latency: specifies how far back on the timeline that the Data Window is placed

  5. Data Window: the historical period from present time which StreamWeaver will collect metric data from SolarWinds VMAN / VIM (5 minutes recommended)

  6. Advanced: Do not change unless directed by StreamWeaver

  7. After configuring Metrics, Events, and Topology, select "Create Collectors and Continue"

Step 6b: Configure Source Alerts



Step 6b: Configure Source Alerts (under Event)

  1. Select Data Type to access configuration screens 
    1. Metric
    2. Event  and Alerts (selected)
    3. Topology

  2. Schedule Name: the scheduled frequency which StreamWeaver will collect from SolarWinds VMAN / VIM (5 Minutes interval recommended)

  3. Base URI (for Alert Drilldowns): the Base or starting value for all Alert Drilldown Uniform Resource Identifier (URIs)

  4. Alert Severities: the following severity choices can be selected:
    1. Information
    2. Warning
    3. Critical
    4. Serious
    5. Notice

  5. Data Latency: specifies how far back on the timeline that the Data Window is placed

  6. Data Window: the historical period from present time which StreamWeaver will collect from SolarWinds VMAN / VIM (5 Minutes interval recommended)

  7. Advanced: Do not change unless directed by StreamWeaver

  8. After configuring Metrics, Events, and Topology, select "Create Collectors and Continue"

  1. Select Data Type to access configuration screens 
    1. Metric
    2. Event and Alerts (selected)
    3. Topology

  2. Schedule Name: the scheduled frequency which StreamWeaver will collect from SolarWinds VMAN / VIM (5 Minutes interval recommended)

  3. Event Types: a list of SolarWinds VMAN / VIM event types can be found here

  4. Data Latency: specifies how far back on the timeline that the Data Window is placed

  5. Data Window: the historical period from present time which StreamWeaver will collect from SolarWinds VMAN / VIM (5 Minutes interval recommended)

  6. Advanced: Do not change unless directed by StreamWeaver

  7. After configuring Metrics, Events, and Topology, select "Create Collectors and Continue"

Step 6d: Configure Source Topology

  1. Select Data Type to access configuration screens (do not click "Create Collectors and Continue" until all Data Types have been configured)

    1. Event
    2. Metric
    3. Topology (selected)

  2. Schedule Name: choose a name from the drop-down: the SolarWinds VMAN / VIM scheduled frequency recommendation is 1 hour

  1. Data Latency: specifies how far back on the timeline that the Data Window is placed

  2. Data Window: the historical period from present time which StreamWeaver will collect from SolarWinds VMAN / VIM (5 Minutes interval recommended)

  3. Advanced: Do not change unless directed by StreamWeaver

  4. After configuring Metrics, Events, and Topology, select "Create Collectors and Continue"
