This product contains Knowledge Modules and Monitoring Solutions that provide information about the resources or applications running on a monitored computer. The two terms are synonymous and are often used interchangeably.
A monitoring solution is a pre-defined set of metrics that monitor the health and performance of a specific device or service. BMC monitoring solutions are composed of monitor types and attributes.

The PATROL for Ceph Storage documentation helps new and experienced users implement or use this product. Based on your role, the following sections of the documentation are recommended.

Repository
The Infrastructure Management–PATROL Repository (Repository) comprises two sets of Monitoring Solutions and KMs, known as the Base and Extended repositories.
- The Base repository contains approximately a dozen components, including the operating system KMs.
- The Extended repository contains approximately five dozen components, including the database KMs.
Every three or four months, several components of the Repository are enhanced or added.
The PATROL for Ceph Storage is a component of the extended repository.
What is PATROL for Ceph Storage?
PATROL for Ceph Storage ensures continuous monitoring of the distributed storage infrastructure's health and performance. This robust monitoring extends to individual components, providing transparency into data status and insights into overall system health.
Monitoring features:
- Cluster Discovery: Monitors the health and performance metrics of the Ceph cluster, including usage, total capacity, and client performance.
- Host Monitoring: Discovers hosts and monitors their status and Quorum status.
- OSD Monitoring: Tracks OSD availability and performance metrics such as Apply Latency, Commit Latency, read/write bytes, usage, and read/write operations.
- Pool Monitoring: Monitors pool performance metrics, including usage, read/write bytes, read/write operations, and the number of objects.

Parameter Reference Database
The Parameter Reference Database (PRD) contains reports of the parameters available from the KMs and solutions in the extensive Knowledge Module (KM) library. You can access these reports in CSV, PDF, or HTML format.
You can quickly filter the list of products by typing any portion of the product name in the filter box, as shown in the following figure.
