Permissions reference

The two tables in this topic list the permissions that you can assign when editing or creating roles. To help you find the permissions you need, you can filter the tables by the ability to edit a permission and the feature to which the permission applies. The tables provide the following information about each permission:

  • Type: Indicates whether the permission enables the user to view or edit and configure the feature. The Edit permission enables users to view, edit, and delete an object. The Edit Only permission enables users to view and edit, but not delete an object.
  • Category: High-level categorization of the permission
  • Element: A subset of the category, a feature or object in the UI to which the permission applies
  • Default: Indicates that the permission is automatically selected when you create a new role.
  • Permission: Name of the permission as it appears in the UI

With the exception of the monitoring administration, which is a feature of the TrueSight Presentation Server, the first table contains permissions that apply to the features in the TrueSight Infrastructure Management component. The second table contains permissions that apply to features that you access from the TrueSight console (TrueSight Presentation Server) when you first access the product.

Note

Although the permission name matches the permission in the Roles editor, some of the other information varies from the user interface. This differences were intentionally introduced to clarify the use of the permission.

  • Begin typing in a text box to begin filtering the tables.
  • Typing entries in two or more boxes applies an AND operator, which creates a more restrictive filter.
  • To remove the filter, clear the text box.
  • Filters apply to both tables
  • Only the Category and Type columns provide a list menu.
