Viewing an application


You can drill-down to any application from the Applications page and view details of that application.

  1. In the Operations Management console, click Monitoring > Applications.
  2. Click an application name.
    The Application Monitoring page for that application is displayed.

The Application Monitoring page contains the following information:

Select Save as Preference to set the selected tab (Application View, Model, Events, or Devices) as the default tab when you open the Application Monitoring page.

Component

Description

Application Name

Name of the application whose details you are viewing

If your system is integrated with BMC TrueSight IT Data Analytics, an action menu is displayed next to the application name. Select Launch BMC TrueSight IT Data Analytics to perform root-cause analysis on events in the application.

Automatic

Indicates whether the application was automatically generated (Yes), or manually created in the Operations Management console (No)

Importance

Importance of the application in your network

Set the importance when you create an application, or modify an automatically discovered application.

Severity

Severity of the events in the application or the application's devices

Open Events

Number of events associated with the application

The total number of events is the sum of the number of events in the open, acknowledged, and assigned states. Click a number to display event details on the Events tab. For more information about events, see Monitoring-events.

Devices

Number of devices associated with the application

Devices can also be a part of a group. The total number of devices displayed might not be a sum of the devices in the different states because a device can have events in different statuses. Click a number to display device details on the Devices tab. For more information about devices, see Monitoring-devices.

For applications that are automatically discovered, and manual applications with synthetic transaction monitoring, you can investigate problems with application performance and availability and drill down to application diagnostics.

Examine your network's application models to pinpoint the exact impact area in an application and drill down to each node and find its status.

Examine all the events associated with the application as a snapshot of the Events view.
