Defining a time frame for the blackout policies


A time frame specifies the time period for the blackout policy to be active.

Before you begin

Review the Time-frame-and-blackout-policy-creation-best-practices.

To define a time frame

  1. In the navigation pane of the Central Monitoring Administration console, click the General drawer.
  2. Select Timeframes.
  3. Click Add ico_add.png.
  4. In the Add Timeframe dialog box, provide the following details:

    Name

    Name for the time frame

    Description

    A brief description about the time frame

    Start

    Start time for the time frame. The value must be in the 24-hour format. For example, 10:55

    End

    End time for the time frame. You have the following options:


      • Time—Actual end time. For example, 11:30
      • Duration—Duration of the time frame from the start time. For example, if the start time is 10:55 and the duration is 1 hour, the calculated end time is 11:55.

    Recurrence Pattern

    Occurrence frequency of the time frame. The supported patterns are as follows:

    • Always active—Indicates that the time frame is always active. You have the option to activate the time frame immediately or you can set the date from when you want the time frame to be active.
    • Once—Indicates that the time frame gets activated on the selected date. Specify the date for the time frame to be active.
    • Daily—Indicates that the time frame gets activated every day. You have the option to activate the time frame every day or only weekdays (Monday through Friday).
    • Weekly—Indicates that the time frame gets activated on the selected days of the week. You have the option to select the days when you want the time frame to be active.
    • Monthly—Indicates that the time frame gets activated on the selected dates of a month. You have the option to provide a single date, range of dates, or multiple dates. For example, 10, 10-15, or 5,10,15.
  5. Click Save.

To update an existing time frame

  1. In the navigation pane of the Central Monitoring Administration console, click the General drawer.
  2. Select Timeframes.
  3. In the table, select a time frame, and click Edit ico_edit.png.
  4. Update the values.
  5. Click Update.

To delete a time frame

  1. In the navigation pane of the Central Monitoring Administration console, click the General drawer.
  2. Select Timeframes.
  3. In the table, select a time frame that you want to delete, and click Click Delete ico_delete.png.
  4. On the Confirm delete dialog box, click Yes.
