Device Performance dashlet

The Device Performance dashlet displays the performance metrics of a single device based on selected parameters. For each device, you can view a maximum of four parameters. Each parameter is displayed in a separate chart. The charts are displayed based on the number of parameters configured.

A Device Health Bar chart is displayed below the parameter charts, displaying the severity counts based only on critical, major, and minor events and belonging only to open, acknowledged, and assigned statuses. If there are zero severities, a green bar is shown indicating a good health and a non-zero number displays a segmented bar chart with the event count against each severity as shown in these figures.

On the parameter charts, click a data point to open the Monitor Details page and on the Device Health bar chart as shown in the figure.

On the Device Health chart, clicking the segmented chart data opens the Device Details page as shown in the figure. However, a Device Health with a green bar is not clickable.

Dashlet requirements

At least one instance of a TrueSight Infrastructure Manager server must be registered with the Presentation Server for this dashlet template to be available.

Configuring the dashlet

You can configure this dashlet when you add or edit a dashboard.

  1. Click Add Dashlet and select the Device Performance dashlet.
  2. Click the Configure Dashlet configure_icon.png icon.
  3. Enter a meaningful and descriptive Title for the dashlet.
  4. From the Refresh Rate list, select a frequency for refreshing the chart view.
    The default is 5 minutes.
  5. Click the (Select) link to select a Device.

A device search dialog box is opened with a list of devices.

  6. Either select a device from the list or type the name of a device to search, select it, and click OK.
The device name is displayed with a (Change) link next to it. You can change the device by clicking the link or proceed to the next step.
As soon as the device is selected, the parameters for that device are listed under the Available Parameters section as shown in the figure.

    Info

It is possible that a selected device was deleted from the TrueSight server after it was selected in this dashlet. In that case, a message (The device appears to be deleted and cannot be loaded) is displayed, and no available parameters are displayed for such a device. There are two possible scenarios in this case:

    - The user did not intentionally delete the device: click the (Change) link and select the same device again.

    - The user intentionally deleted the device: delete and reconfigure the dashlet again.

  7. Enter the parameter name or first few characters in the Search Parameters field and click Search.
For example, type Sybase as shown in the figure, to limit the number of parameters listed under the Available Parameters section.
  8. From the Available Parameters (Monitor:Type::Monitor:Attributes), you can select up to four parameters.
The selected parameters are moved into the Selected Parameters section and the (Change) link next to the device name is replaced with a (Clear the parameters list to change the device) message. See the figure for an example.

    Note

To change the list of selected parameters, you must clear one or more parameters from either the Available Parameters or the Selected Parameters section, and select a different set of parameters from the Available Parameters section.

To change the device, first clear all the four parameters. After you clear them, the (Change) link reappears next to the device name.

  9. Select the height of the dashlet row: 3X or 4X
The value of X is approximately 100 pixels. The default height is 3X.
  10. Click Apply to add the configured dashlet to the dashboard.

    Best practice

After you save the Device Performance dashlet, change the dashboard row size settings to a 100% layout.

    Note

This dashlet is not affected by the Applications global filter at the dashboard level.
