Creating a monitoring policy to configure intelligent thresholds
You can create a monitoring policy to configure intelligent thresholds to receive alarms from BMC TrueSight Infrastructure Management Server. For example, you want to get minor-severity alarms when the CPU utilization exceeds 80%, and you want to get major-severity alarms when the utilization exceeds 90%. To achieve this, you must set thresholds accordingly and specify appropriate monitor instances.

matchDeviceName | Specifies whether to include the associated device and use the entire string for pattern matching. Instance thresholds are applied to the matched monitor instance names or instance names patterns. The supported values are as follows:

instanceName | Name of the monitor instance for which you want to apply the threshold |
thresholds | Lists the threshold definitions that are grouped by type for the specified instance |
type | Type of the threshold. The supported values are as follows:

details | Lists the details of the threshold |
severity | Severity of the event. The supported values are as follows:

durationInMins | Duration (in minutes) of delay from when the threshold is violated to when an event is generated. The same duration is required to close an event, starting with the first data point where threshold is no longer violated. |
comparison | Reference point for comparison of the actual measurements with the defined threshold values. The supported values are as follows:

outsideBaseline | Baseline to associate with the threshold. The supported values are as follows:

predict | Specifies whether to generate predictive events. The supported values are as follows:

autoClose | Specifies whether you want Infrastructure Management to automatically close the triggered event when the triggered event returns to normal state. The supported values are as follows:

threshold | Range of values for which events are triggered |
minimumSamplingWindow | Minimum window of time to keep raw data points that will be considered for intelligent threshold computation. Data points outside this range are usually discarded. |
