Uninstalling the TrueSight Presentation Server


You can uninstall the TrueSight Presentation Server using the wizard or silently.

Warning
  • When you uninstall the TrueSight Presentation Server, the data stored in its database is also deleted. To retain this data, you must take a backup of the database before uninstalling. For details, see Backing up the Presentation Server database.

  • Before you start uninstalling the TrueSight Presentation Server, make sure to delete the connected components. For more information, see Delete the connected components.

 

To delete the connected components

You can use one of the following methods to delete the components:

  • From the TrueSight console

    1. Log into the TrueSight console.
    2. From Administration>components, click the action menu of each component and delete the component.
  • From the Infrastructure Management command line

    1. Log into the Infrastructure Management server.
    2. From the command line, run the following command to delete the connected components:

      pw dwb tspsdetails reset


To uninstall the TrueSight Presentation Server using the wizard

  1. Log in to the computer on which you have installed the TrueSight Presentation Server (as a non-root user if using Linux).
  2. Launch the uninstallation wizard using one of the following methods:

    • (Windows
      1. From the Control Panel, select Programs and Features.
      2. Right-click TrueSight Presentation Server and select Uninstall.
    • (Windows)
      1. Navigate to the <Presentation Server Installation Directory>\UninstallBMCTrueSightPServer directory.
      2. Run the uninstall.exe command.
    • (Linux)

      1. Set the DISPLAY environment variable.
      2. Navigate to the <Presentation Server Installation Directory>/UninstallBMCTrueSightPServer directory.
        Default directory: /opt/bmc/TrueSightPServer/UninstallBMCTrueSightPServer
      3. Run the command: ./uninstall.bin

  3. Click Next on the Presentation Sever Uninstaller Welcome page.
  4. Select Uninstall TrueSight Presentation Server, and click Next.
  5. Click Uninstall.
  6. Restart the host computer after the uninstallation process is completed.

To uninstall the TrueSight Presentation Server silently

Note

If you are a non-root user and you want to uninstall TrueSight Presentation Server, ensure that the /etc/init.d/BMCTSPSSvc directory and file is removed by a root user before you can proceed with the uninstallation.

  1. Log in to the computer on which you have installed the TrueSight Presentation Server (as a non-root user if using Linux) .
  2. (Linux) Set the DISPLAY environment variable.
  3. Navigate to the <Presentation Server Installation Directory>\UninstallBMCTrueSightPServer directory:
    • (Windows) Default: C:\Program Files\BMC Software\TrueSightPServer\UninstallBMCTrueSightPServer
    • (Linux) Default: /opt/bmc/TrueSightPServer/UninstallBMCTrueSightPServer
  4. Run the following command:
    • (Windows) uninstall.exe -i silent -DOPTIONS_FILE="<Full File Path>\server-silent-options-windows-uninstall.txt"
    • (Linux) ./uninstall.bin -i silent -DOPTIONS_FILE="<Full File Path>\server-silent-options-linux-uninstall.txt"
  5. From the /etc/init.d directory, delete the BMCTSPSSvc file. 
  6. Restart the host computer after the uninstallation process is completed.

Note

Default users and user groups were created in your Remedy SSO server when you installed the TrueSight Presentation Server. These default users and user groups are retained in the Remedy SSO server even after you have uninstalled the TrueSight Presentation Server. If you want to delete these users and user groups, you must delete them manually.
