Migrating from an IPv4 or Dual-stack environment to an IPv6 environment
If you are a new BMC TrueSight Operations Management Reporting 10.0 user, you can directly deploy the Report Engine on the IPv6 protocol. You need not perform any manual steps.
If you are an user who upgraded from earlier BMC ProactiveNet Performance Management Reporting versions to BMC TrueSight Operations Management Reporting version 10.0, then to migrate the BMC TrueSight Operations Management Report Engine to an IPv6-enabled environment, perform the following steps on the Report Engine host:
- Open the wrapper.conf file located at <ReportEngineInstallDirectory>/opt/TrueSightOperationsManagementReporting/
ReportEngine/serviceWrapper and edit it as follows:- From IPv4 to IPv6: Update the value of the following parameter to false from true.
wrapper.java.additional.13=-Djava.net.preferIPv4Stack
That is, wrapper.java.additional.13=-Djava.net.preferIPv4Stack=false - From Dual stack to IPv6: Add the following parameter with the value as false.
wrapper.java.additional.13=-Djava.net.preferIPv4Stack
That is, wrapper.java.additional.13=-Djava.net.preferIPv4Stack=false
- From IPv4 to IPv6: Update the value of the following parameter to false from true.
- Save the wrapper.conf file and restart the Report Engine service.
- After you modify the network configuration, the IP adress of the host on which Report Engine is installed is updated automatically. Ping the modified IP address of the this host from the BMC TrueSight Infrastructure Management Server and Report Engine database hosts and it must return a valid output. Else, the event, impact, and performance data will not be transferred.
- Access BMC TrueSight Infrastructure Management Server and update the gateway entry with the new Report Engine Host name as described in Configuring BMC TrueSight Infrastructure Management cells for event reporting.
