Enhancements

TrueSight Operations Management Reporting 10.7.00 offers the following enhancements:

Transport Layer Security (TLS 1.2) compliance

The Transport Layer Security (TLS) is a building block for secure communication over the internet. The need for authentication and assurance is increasing in the enterprise management environment. You can upgrade the security in your enterprise environment by using Transport Layer Security (TLS 1.2) to communicate with the various components of the TrueSight Operations Management Report Engine. You can configure the TrueSight Operations Management Report Engine to enable TLS mode. For more information, see TLS-considerations-for-TrueSight-Operations-Management-Reporting.

Improved data security through Advanced Encryption Standard (AES)

The TrueSight Operations Management Report Engine uses AES encryption standard to store passwords. It supports AES encryption in two key sizes: 256-bit and 128-bit. AES 256-bit encryption is not allowed in some countries due to import regulations. Based on the import regulations in your region or country, you need to set the appropriate encryption key size before installing the TrueSight Operations Management Report Engine. For more information, see the following:

Post the TrueSight Operations Management Report Engine installation, you can change the encryption key using the command line utility. For more information, see Changing the encryption key to secure data.

New Performance Report

A new Server Health report is now available to display a server's data for a specified period. This new report replaces the Server Capacity reports used in previous versions of the TrueSight Operations Management Report Engine.

The new report shows a bar graph with the percent of the time that the server was available during the period and the maximum values for each server's attributes between the selected time range. It also shows summarized data for each attribute between the selected time range. The summarized data includes the average and maximum usage for each hour.

For more information, see Performance-report.

Simplified the Report Engine installation and post-installation configuration

The following enhancements apply if you are installing the Report Engine with the TrueSight Infrastructure Management Server version 10.7 or later.

  • The Report Engine version 10.7 installation wizard is enhanced to autofill the TrueSight Infrastructure Management Server database details.
You only need to enter the TrueSight Infrastructure Management Server database password, all of the other details are completed.

Note

The database password is also completed when the TrueSight Infrastructure Management Server is using a Sybase database. If you have changed Sybase database default password, you must enter a new password.

  • Automated post-installation configuration process for enabling event propagation and cell registration
You can enable event propagation and impact data collection by simply selecting the Enable Event and Impact Reporting option during the Report Engine installation.
This option automates several post-installation steps that include:

    • Configuring Report Engine gateway in cell configuration
    • Enabling the event propagation policy
    • Subscribing the cell to the Report Engine for impact reporting
