Step 3: Installing BMC Reporting Foundation

BMC Reporting Foundation uses SAP® BusinessObjects™, a third-party business intelligence system, as the reporting engine that administers and publishes the reports. BMC Reporting Foundation does not include the database that contains the data used in the reports.

BMC Reporting Foundation consists of the following sets of components:

  • Reporting server components, including the Reporting server and report portal. You can install the Reporting server components on either a Windows or a Solaris computer.
  • BMC Reporting Foundation database component. You can install the default embedded database while installing BMC Reporting Foundation or install a supported database for which you have obtained a license prior to the installation.
  • The BMC Reporting Foundation Client Tools components, which you must install on a Windows computer

Before you install BMC Reporting Foundation on an IPv6 Windows host, ensure that the IP helper service is started.
