Finding messages

You can search for specific messages by searching for specific strings or message properties in the message data, message header fields and message properties. The search will run on all supported header type fields – MQMD, MQDLH, MQXQH, MQRFH, MQRFH2 and MQIIH.

To find messages:

  1. From the Operations drop-down menu, select Find Messages.

  2. In the displayed Search Details dialog, define your search criteria. For WebSphere WMQ messages only, use the Display Message Properties drop-down list to choose how to view message properties in your search results.

    Note

    Select the Convert Message checkbox to request the message data be converted from MQ if necessary. This will use the option MQGMO_CONVERT when retrieving the message from MQ.

  3. Click the Search icon. The relevant messages are displayed in the workspace.

Tip

If you need to redefine your search criteria, click on the Search Details tab to redisplay the Search Details dialog. 

 

Tip: For faster searching, add an asterisk to the end of your partial query. Example: cert*
