Managing topics

Topics are subjects that a subscriber chooses to receive (subscribe to). Specific messages can be associated with topics; messages with similar contents are published to a topic, and subscribers register for the topic. This ensures that they will receive all relevant messages.

The following is an example of a Topics Summary View:

Summary view operations available from the Operations drop-down menu are: Copy As New Topic, Delete, Permissions, Audit, Publish Messages, Tag Topic

To access the selected topic's Properties Editor, click the Topic Name.

In addition, the following operations are available from the operations drop-down menu in the main options bar:

  • New Topic: Create a new topic.
  • Publish: Publish a topic message.
  • Show Topic Status: Switch to the Topic Status Summary View.
  • CSV Export: Exports the information displayed in this view in CVS format.

Publishing topics

The Publish Topic dialog can be accessed from either the Topics or Subscriptions Summary views in the Generic Options Toolbar.

Note

Due to the nature of Pub/Sub functionality, it is not possible to view or interact with a topic message once it has been published.

To publish a new topic message

  1. In the Topic or Subscription Summary View, click on the Publish icon. Then click on the Upload tab, shown below.
