Using the Message section

This area is where the Message Body data is entered. Data types that are supported are Text, Binary, and XML. Note that the Binary/XML views of the data are only applicable when editing messages, and not when viewing them or putting new messages.

To use the Message section:

  1. Enter data using the Text tab. All of the data types can be added from this tab. String and XML data types must be entered on this tab (if entering an XML formatted message, be sure it is properly formatted XML).
    • Binary tab: Data entered in the Text tab will display in the Binary tab as the Hexadecimal equivalent of the ASCII data. You can enter data in Hex format on this tab. There are 512 bytes of data displayed; if the message is larger than this, multiple pages will be displayed. Use the Page Numbers to browse and view different pages of data, or use the Previous/Next button to page through the data.
    • To the far right of the screen, the ASCII version of the data is displayed for reference.
    • The Go to Page button will display the data for the page specified in the field before the button.
    • The Insert/Overwrite button toggles between these modes for entering new data.
  2. After entering properly formatted XML data in the Text tab, click on the XML tab.
    • The XML data is displayed in a Read-Only format.
    • Enter Valid XPath information in the XPath Filter field to search for particular XPath related data, then click Find.
    • Reset will clear the filter and display all the data again.
    • Collapse/Expand All will collapse the entire Data Structure or expand the entire Data Structure.
  3. Click on the Save button in the Generic Options toolbar. The Queue or Topic Summary view is displayed.
  4. Optional - Click Cancel to return to the message view.

To upload a topic message from a file:

  1. In the Topic or Subscription Summary View, click on the Publish icon. The Publish Dialog is displayed.
  2. Enter a Topic String to publish to in the top field.
  3. Click the Upload tab.
  4. Click Browse and a File Upload dialog is displayed.
  5. Navigate to a file that contains a message that contains the topic message you want to publish and click Open.
  6. Parameters are displayed for setting key message properties. These fields can be set as required for the message.
  7. Click the Save button to publish the topic message. A confirmation will display that the upload was successful.
  8. Optional - Click Cancel to return to the Topic or Subscription Summary view without publishing the new message.
