Working with CIs and relationships


This topic gives you an overview of the various tasks that you can perform on a CI and relationships between CIs using CMDB forms.

  • You can directly access the following form URL to manage the component and relationship attributes:

To edit CIs

  1. Open the form of the CI class (For example: BMC_ComputerSystem) that you want to edit by accessing the following sample URL:
    http://<midTierServer>:<port>/arsys/forms/<ARServer>/BMC.CORE:BMC_ComputerSystem
  2. Input the search criteria in any of the form fields to search the CI instance that you want to edit and click Search.
  3. From the following search results illustration, select the InstanceId of the CI that you want to edit.

  4. The form will open in edit mode for the selected instance of the CI. Update the required CI details in the form and click Save.

To delete CIs

  1. Open the form of the CI class (For example: BMC_ComputerSystem) that you want to delete by accessing the following sample URL:
    http://<midTierServer>:<port>/arsys/forms/<ARServer>/BMC.CORE:BMC_ComputerSystem
  2. Input the search criteria in any of the form fields to search the CI instance that you want to delete and click Search.
  3. From the following search results illustration, select the InstanceId of the CI that you want to delete.

  4. The form will open in edit mode for the selected instance of the CI. In the General tab, set the MarkAsDeleted field to Yes and click Save.

To edit relationships between CIs

  1. Open the BMC.CORE:BMC_BaseRelationship form by accessing the following sample URL:
    http://<midTierServer>:<port>/arsys/forms/<ARServer>/BMC.CORE:BMC_BaseRelationship
  2. Input the search criteria in any of the form fields to search the CI relationship instance that you want to edit and click Search.
  3. From the following search results illustration, select the InstanceId of the CI relationship that you want to edit.

  4. The form will open in edit mode for the selected instance of the CI. Update the required CI relationship details in the form and click Save.

To delete relationships between CIs

  1. Open the BMC.CORE:BMC_BaseRelationship form by accessing the following sample URL:
    http://<midTierServer>:<port>/arsys/forms/<ARServer>/BMC.CORE:BMC_BaseRelationship
  2. Input the search criteria in any of the form fields to search the CI relationship instance that you want to delete and click Search.
  3. From the following search results illustration, select the InstanceId of the CI relationship that you want to delete.

  4. The form will open in edit mode for the selected instance of the CI. In the General tab, set the MarkAsDeleted field to Yes and click Save.

To find CIs

  1. Open the form of the CI class (For example: BMC_ComputerSystem) that you want to search by accessing the following sample URL:
    http://<midTierServer>:<port>/arsys/forms/<ARServer>/BMC.CORE:BMC_ComputerSystem
  2. Input the search criteria in any of the form fields to search the required CI instance and click Search.
  3. View the required CI by scrolling through the following search results illustration:

Tip: For faster searching, add an asterisk to the end of your partial query. Example: cert*
