Monitors - Performance overview dashlet


The Monitors - Performance overview dashlet displays the performance overview of the metrics data collected for the selected monitor types. You can choose to focus on either a single metric analysis or multiple metrics comparison. The resultant graph displays as shown in this figure.

Dashlet requirements

 At least one instance of a TrueSight Infrastructure Manager server must be registered with the Presentation Server for this dashlet template to be available.

Configuring the dashlet

You can configure this dashlet when you add or edit a dashboard. Use one of the following procedures, based on whether you want to do a single metric analysis or multimetric comparison.

 

  1. Click Add Dashlet and select the Monitors - Performance overview dashlet.
  2. Click the Configure Dashlet configure_icon.png icon.
  3. (Optional) To enter a meaningful and descriptive Title for the dashlet, click on the customize_link.png link. The field becomes editable and you can enter a title. Alternatively, click the use_default_link.png link to use the default name.

    Note

    This title is a dynamic title based on the selected properties. However, this dynamic title may not match with the applied Global Filter Time Period after you upgrade from TrueSight Presentation Server 10.0. to 10.1.

  4. From the Focus list, select the Single Metric Analysis.

     The default is Single Metric Analysis.

  5. From the Type list, select either Line Graph or Area Graph.
    The default is Line GraphArea graphs are specialized line graphs and plot only single instance and single attribute selections. Indicators do not apply to area graphs.
  6. From the Refresh Rate list, select a frequency for refreshing the chart view.
    The default is 5 minutes.
  7. From the Selected Monitors, click the Add_button.png link to add monitors. 

    A search window is displayed. The Add_button.png link becomes a Change_button.png link.

  8. Select a BMC TrueSight Infrastructure Management, Group, Monitor Type and Monitors from the list.
  9. Click Done to save the selection or Cancel to cancel the operation.
  10. From the Attribute list, select a single metric for doing analysis.
  11. (Optional) Select one or more Baselines from the listed baselines.
  12. (Optional) Select one or more Thresholds from the listed thresholds.
  13. (Optional) Select any one of the events to show.
    By default, the Events check box is selected. Clearing the Events check box disables the selected event type from showing.
  14. (Optional) Select one or more Graph Data from the listed options.
  15. Select the height of the dashlet row: 1X2X, or 3X.  The value of X is approximately 100 pixels.

    The default height is 2X.

  16. (Optional) Select the Show in Legend: Device Name and Monitor Name.
    You can select either single or both the legends.
  17. Click Apply to add the configured dashlet to the dashboard.

    Best practice

    After you save the dashlet, change the dashboard row size settings to 50% layout or larger.

  1. Click Add Dashlet and select the Monitors - Performance overview dashlet.

     The default is Single Metric Analysis.

  5. From the Type list, select either Line Graph or Area Graph. The default is Line GraphArea graphs are specialized line graphs and plot only single instance and single attribute selections. Indicators do not apply to area graphs.
  6. From the Refresh Rate list, select a frequency for refreshing the chart view. The default is 5 minutes.
  7. From the Selected Monitors, click the Add_button.png link to add monitors. 

    A search window is displayed. The Add_button.png link reappears. You can repeat this step to add more monitors. 

  8. Select a BMC TrueSight Infrastructure Management, Group, and Monitor Type from the list.
  9. Click Done to save the selection or Cancel to cancel the operation.
  10. From the Attribute list, select the metrics for comparison.

    Repeat this step for all the selected monitors.

  11. (Optional) Select a Left Axis unit.
  12. (Optional) Select a Right Axis unit.
  13. Select the height of the dashlet row: 1X2X, or 3X.  The value of X is approximately 100 pixels.

    The default height is 2X.

  14. (Optional) Select the Show in Legend: Device Name and Monitor Name. You can select either single or both the legends.
  15. Click Apply to add the configured dashlet to the dashboard.

    Best practice
