Browser limitations and workarounds for operator and administrator consoles
The following table provides information about errors and issues with internet browsers, and how to address them. This table lists the limitations for only those browsers that are supported.
Limitation | Workaround |
---|---|
General | |
The navigation tree is not displayed. | Clear the browser cache. |
You might encounter login problems if the cookies in the browser are disabled. | Enable cookies in the browser. |
Internet Explorer | |
Pop-up windows are blocked. | Configure the browser to allow pop-up windows from BMC TrueSight Infrastructure Management Server. |
If you open two browser windows from the same workstation using the same browser instance, and log on to the BMC TrueSight Infrastructure Management Server using different user authorities, when one of the browsers refreshes, both browsers display the same information as the user with the greater permissions. | This is a limitation of Internet Explorer that Infrastructure Management cannot resolve. To display two different Infrastructure Management views on the same workstation at the same time, (either logged in as the same user or two different users with different permissions), launch two separate browser windows (not two browser instances from a single browser window) and log on from the individual browsers. |
While working with dashboards containing Dial gauges in the second row, Internet Explorer sometimes displays the Dial gauge in the lower frame. This is due to system resource constraint. | Scroll the dashboard frame to clear the displayed overlapping. |
The operator console might display undesired results if Microsoft Windows desktop is set to display large fonts. Some of the symptoms might include the top navigation frame not fitting into the space allocated, so some of the access buttons might not be accessible, and some buttons might appear as double images. | Change the desktop properties to Small Fonts and restart the computer. |
When more than three Detailed Diagnostics (which take more than 3 minutes to run) pop-up menus are opened simultaneously, the displayed output is not formatted. | Run one Detailed Diagnostic at a time. |
When multiple attributes are selected from the same unit, Export to Excel does not work if the name of the file exceeds the limit. | Use the Mozilla Firefox browser. |
The Agent and Admin download file names have a numeral enclosed in square brackets before the period. For example: Agent7[1].1_b52. | Files can be saved by removing the numeral enclosed in square brackets and with appropriate release version. For example, Agent7.1_b52. |
On Solaris, when accessing any link from the Tools menu, the Back button in Internet Explorer takes you to the page before the previous page, instead of taking you to the previous page. | Use the Mozilla Firefox browser. |
Cannot view the Promote as Tab pop-up menu. | To view the Promote as Tab pop-up menu in the hyperbolic tree, you must double-click the icon. |
Tool tips are not displayed for agent actions in the Run Agent Action list in Internet Explorer versions 10 and 11 when multiple actions are listed. | Select the first item in the Run Agent Action list and you can view the tool tips for all the list items. |
Mozilla Firefox | |
On Microsoft Windows Server 2008 R2, the Abnormalities screen may turn blank if you hover the mouse on the Grid View icon. This problem is rectified as soon as you move the mouse away from the Grid View icon. | Use another browser such as Internet Explorer or Google Chrome. |
