Integration Service installation with a nonroot user

On Linux computers, you can now install the Integration Service with a nonroot user as well. However, you must provide certain permissions to the nonroot user. For more information, see Permissions required for a nonroot user.

Preinstallcheck utility for the Infrastructure Management Server

You can now validate the readiness of the Infrastructure Management Server installation environment by using the command-driven preinstallcheck utility. For more information, see Running-the-preinstallcheck-utility.

Support for new operating system for Infrastructure Management components

• The Infrastructure Management Server now supports the following operating system. For information about all supported operating systems, see System requirements for Infrastructure Management Server.

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7.2 (64-bit)

• The Remote Cell now supports the following operating system. For information about all supported operating systems, see System requirements for Remote Cell.

  • IBM AIX version 7.2

Discontinued OS and cluster deployment support for Infrastructure Management components

From this release onward, BMC TrueSight Infrastructure Management has discontinued support for the following:

• Infrastructure Management Server and Integration Service support for the Solaris operating system
• Integration Service support for the AIX operating system and the cluster deployment

Improved data security through Advanced Encryption Standard (AES)

The TrueSight Operations Management solution uses AES encryption standard to store the policy data, passwords, security certificates. AES encryption is provided for two key sizes: 256-bit and 128-bit. AES 256-bit encryption is not allowed in some countries due to import regulations. You need to select the appropriate encryption key size based on the import regulations in your region or country. For more information, see Performing presentation server installation.

Transport Layer Security (TLS 1.2) compliance

The Transport Layer Security (TLS) is a building block for secure communication over the internet. The need for authentication and assurance is increasing in the enterprise management environment. You can upgrade the security in your enterprise environment by using Transport Layer Security (TLS 1.2) to communicate with the various components of the TrueSight Operations Management solution. You can configure the BMC TrueSight Infrastructure Management and its components to enable TLS mode. For more information, see enabling TLS 1.2 mode.

With this release of TrueSight Infrastructure Management, the Central Monitoring Administration console is discontinued. All the monitoring administration features are now available from the TrueSight console with enhanced functionalities, such as easier search and filtering options. Support for monitoring services in the TrueSight console

Monitor the services in the Services dashlet

With this release of TrueSight Infrastructure Management, you can select and configure the services of your choice to monitor the services in the Services dashlet. The Services dashlet displays the services from the Infrastructure Management servers. You can select the services either statically, or based on some rules to display in the Services dashlet. Discontinued support for performing Probable Cause Analysis from the Infrastructure Management operator console

Starting this release, the Probable Cause Analysis feature in TrueSight Infrastructure Management is obsolete and not available. You must now perform the probable cause analysis from the TrueSight console. The Probable Cause Analysis feature in the TrueSight console uses a better scoring algorithm, and takes into consideration the data collected from multiple TrueSight Infrastructure Management Servers. Associating an application to a service

You can associate an application to a service. This feature helps an application or a service specialist to monitor an application's impact on the relevant services. You can link an application to a service through a Configuration Item (CI). When an application is impacted, an application impact event is generated which in turn impacts the CI. If this CI is a part of any service, the associated service is also impacted. For more information, see Associating an application to a service.
