Remediation processing

The remediation phase of OS Disk Space Full performs the following action:

  • Extracts configuration data
  • Extracts the FAT commands
  • Processes the commands
  • Consolidates the output

The change management process manages the remediation tasks through change templates that have change IDs with associated task IDs. The remediation phase is started through a change request, either normal or emergency, as depicted in the example in the figure below:

The workflow gathers the required credential information, including the invocation mechanism, from the AutoPilot Credentials Store to run the delete, clean, and compress commands on the target host system. The commands are not run in any predefined sequence but are dependent of the change request and related tasks.

The commands are run on the target host through specified invocation mechanisms that are defined in the AutoPilot Credentials Store. The invocation mechanisms include:

  • SSH
  • Windows command

The specific remediation command is run through a change management task, as shown in the example in the following figure:

The details of the remediation command--the specific command and the command path – are captured in the work information associated with the task, depicted in the example in the following figure:

In the Relationships tab of the Change Request Info form, you can view the related incident ID, which the workflow automatically associates with the change ID.

The event that triggered the triage and remediation workflow is updated with the corresponding change and task IDs. You can view the updates in the Events Console of the operator console. Access the Notes dialog box in the Details pane of the trigger event. A sample Notes dialog box that shows the change and task ID information is depicted in the following figure:

The detail notes associated with the trigger event also log the status of the specific remediation command after it is completed, as shown in the example in the following figure:
