Publishing from sources other than BMC Atrium CMDB

To install the Publishing Server when you have not integrated with BMC Atrium CMDB:

  1. Edit the installationDirectory\pw\custom\conf\pronet.conf file.
  2. Set CMDBIntegration=y.
  3. Add the pronet.ps.psName=<publishing_server_name> parameter, where <publishing_server_name> is the name listed at installationDirectory\pw\server\bin\pserver.bat and also the name of the directory at
    installationDirectory\
    pw\server\etc\<publishing_server_name>.
  4. Open a command prompt and type cd installationDirectory\pw\pronto\bin
  5. Execute the PServerInstall -i <host_name> command.

The Publishing Server is now installed. You can verify this by executing the pw sys stat command. In Microsoft Windows systems, you can see the pserver process running.

After installing the Publishing Server, you must disable Atrium CMDB publishing. To do this:

  1. Open the installationDirectory\pw\server\etc\pserver.conf file.
  2. Set AtriumCMDBPublishOrigin=F.
  3. Verify that direct publishing is enabled by ensuring that in pserver.conf, the value of DirectPublishOrigin is set to T.
  4. Restart the Publishing Server.

When you now execute psstat the Started - The origin AtriumCMDB is not enabled message is displayed.

You can now create your Direct Publish environment and use the pposter command with this publish environment to publish the data from the external source.
