Customizing the display of events


You can customize the display preferences of the events and set the default view and page to be displayed when you log on to the Operations Console through the Options page. 

  1. In the Operations Console, click the Options link at the top right.
  2. On the Operations tab, under Display Preferences, you can modify the following settings:

    Description

    Home Console

    Select the default console to be displayed when you log on to the Operations Console. You can set either of the following consoles:

    • Global Console
    • Local Server

    The default value is Global Console. For more information about the consoles, see About-the-Central-Console.

    This option is available only for the Central Server.

    Home Page

    Select the default page to be displayed when you log on to the Operations Console. The supported values change according to the home console that you have selected.

    You can also set any of your bookmarks as your home page by selecting Bookmarks from the list.

    Home Type

    Select the default view to be displayed when you log on to the Operations Console. The supported values change according to the home page that you have selected.

    The Home Type list is not available if you have selected Bookmarks in the Home Page box. 

    Available Bookmarks

    Select a bookmark that you want to set as your home page.

    The Available Bookmarks list is available only if you have selected Bookmarks in the Home Page box. 

    Navigation Panel on login

    Select whether you want to have the navigation panel opened or closed when you log on to the Operations Console. The supported values are as follows

    • Open
    • Close

    The default value is Open.

    Events Console Groups

    Click Edit and then use the arrow icons to select groups and to set the order of groups. The Show all groups option on the top left enables you to display all groups dynamically, including all future groups.

    This option is available only when the following conditions are met:

    1. You are an unrestricted user of the group
    2. You open the Options page from a Child Server or a standalone BMC TrueSight Infrastructure Management Server. In case of a Central Server, you have selected Local Server in the navigation pane.

    Events Console Monitor Categories

    Click Edit and then use the arrow icons to select monitor categories and to set the order of monitor categories. The Show all monitor categories option on the top left enables you to display all monitor categories dynamically, including all future monitor categories.

    This option is not available if you have selected Global Console in the navigation pane.

    Show All Devices with Counts

    Display events with the actual numerical count of the events.

    This option is not available if you have selected Global Console in the navigation pane.

    Show Devices in Hierarchy

    Set the hierarchical view as the default view.

    This option is not available if you have selected Global Console in the navigation pane.

    Show All Groups with Counts

    Display events in the Groups > Grid View with the numerical count of the events (rather than the default event severity icons).

    This option is not available if you have selected Global Console in the navigation pane.

    Show Suppressed Events

    View suppressed events in the following locations:

    • Status column in the Events view
    • Event counts in the Groups > Grid View and All Devices
    • Status-based border color in graphs
    • Status icons in the navigation tree for All Events, All Devices, and Groups > Grid View

    This option is available only when the following conditions are met: 

    1. Your Infrastructure Management environment is an upgrade environment
    2. You open the Options page from a Child Server or a standalone BMC TrueSight Infrastructure Management Server. In case of a Central Server, you have selected Local Server in the navigation pane.

    Show Predictive Events

    Display a separate symbol for predictions on the Tile view and Canvas view

    This option is not available if you have selected Global Console in the navigation pane.  

  3. Click Apply.
