Installing BMC TrueSight Infrastructure Management Server

The BMC TrueSight Infrastructure Management Server installation installs the following components:

  • BMC TrueSight Infrastructure Management Server
  • Infrastructure Management Self-Monitoring Service (also known as the local agent)
Warning
  • Due to conflicts with the BMC TrueSight Infrastructure Management Server and the drain on the resources of the Infrastructure Management Self-Monitoring Service, BMC Software does not recommend enabling the Integration Service on the same computer where the BMC TrueSight Infrastructure Management Server is installed.
  • BMC does not recommend using the Infrastructure Management Self-Monitoring Service for monitoring anything other than the BMC TrueSight Infrastructure Management Server.

  • Central Monitoring Administration

    The Central Monitoring Administration is installed by default while installing the BMC TrueSight Infrastructure Management Server on a single-server or in a multiple-server environment. For more information about the Central Monitoring Administration, see Central-Monitoring-Administration-architecture.

    For installing the Central Monitoring Administration, as a part of the BMC TrueSight Infrastructure Management Server, ensure that you download the Infrastructure Management Central Monitoring Repository files from the BMC Electronic Product Distribution (EPD) facility or copy the files from the installation kit, and import the files during BMC TrueSight Infrastructure Management Server installation. You can atleast download the base repository and use that for install.

Note

You can use either Sybase or Oracle as the database.

Warning

Before you configure BMC Atrium CMDB, ensure that BMC CMDB Extensions and modules are installed on the computer where the BMC Atrium CMDB is installed. If necessary, you can stop this installation, install the extensions, and then restart the BMC TrueSight Infrastructure Management Server installation. For information about installing the CMDB extensions, see Installing-BMC-CMDB-Extensions.
