Diagnostic wizard error messages


The following error messages can appear when using the Diagnostic wizard.

Message:
Number of characters returned by the command is more than maximum characters supported

Explanation:
The number of characters in the output exceeds the max data length property, which is defined in the pronet.conf file. The default is 50000 bytes. Along with the error message, the truncated output is displayed.

User Response:
You can change the data length property value in the pronet.conf file.

Message:
Detailed Diagnostics timed out, please check log files for information

Explanation:
The command does not return the result within a specified time period. (The default is 70000 ms.)

User Response:
You can change the timeout property value in the pronet.conf file.

Message:
Server may be down or the SNMP agent is not enabled or port/community/ Server-name/ targetip incorrect

Explanation:
This message is displayed when the server is not yet started or when the SNMP agent is not enabled.

User Response:
Start the server and enable SNMP, as needed.

Message:
Detailed Diagnostics is not supported for this version

Explanation:
The following conditions can generate this message:

  • The agent version number is earlier than 5.1.
  • The module is timed out. The default is 70000ms.
  • The output data length exceeds the max data length attribute in the pronet.conf file. (The default is 50000 bytes.)

    User Response:
    If the agent version is earlier than 5.1, upgrade the agent. If the module timed out or if the data length exceeds 50000 bytes, you can change the time out or data length properties in the pronet.conf file.
