Configuring Tomcat log pruning parameters

Supported with 11.3.02 and later

The default log pruning parameters and the ability to configure those parameters is available only with TrueSight Infrastructure Management version 11.3.02 and later.

By default, the Catalina.log and localhost_access_log.<YY-MM-DD>.txt files are not configured for automatic rotation and pruning. This can cause performance issues.

To avoid such issues, these logs are configured to be pruned after every 12 hours in the following way.

  • Catalina log: Configured to be truncated after it reaches a default limit of 1 GB
  • Localhost Access logs: Configured to preserve the latest 3 logs (as per date modified). 3 is a default limit.

These configuration limits can be customized by changing certain parameter values.

To configure Tomcat log pruning parameters

  1. Navigate to the installationDirectory/pw/custom/conf/pronet.conf file.
  2. Based on the configurations that you want to customize, add one or more of the following parameters:

  3. Save and close the pronet.conf file.
  4. Perform one of the following actions to implement the changes made to the pronet.conf file:
    1. Run the pw jproperties reload CLI command.
    2. Restart the TrueSight Infrastructure Management server.
