Using the BMC Event Adapters

This topic discusses about how to enable, disable, start, and stop BMC Event Adapters.

The following event adapters are available:

• LogFile Adapter - The LogFile Adapter is a file reader that can be used with any text file containing records that can be recognized by Perl regular expressions that describe the record and the record separator. For more information, see LogFile-Adapter.
• SNMP Adapter - The SNMP (Trap) Adapter consists of a UDP SNMP server listening for SNMP traps. It includes the SNMP Adapter Configuration Manager to convert information from Management Information Base (MIB) files into cell classes, and map and enumeration configuration files used to format traps into cell events. For more information, see SNMP-Adapter.
• Perl EventLog Adapter for Windows - The Perl EventLog Adapter for Windows is a Windows-only adapter written in Perl that runs in the mcxa process. It monitors the system, security, and application events generated by a Windows operating system, translates the events, and forwards the events to a cell. For more information, see Perl-EventLog-Adapter-for-Windows.
• IP Adapters - The IP Adapters use the various protocols of the IP protocol suite to establish connections with programs from which you might want to collect cell event data. For more information, see IP-Adapters.
• BMC Event Log Adapter for Windows - The BMC Event Log Adapter for Windows (BMC ELA) monitors the system, security, and application events generated by the Windows operating system, translates the events, and forwards the events to a cell. For more information, see BMC Event Log Adapter for Windows.
