Monitoring resources in an organized manner

Monitoring infrastructure spread across different locations is a challenge for the IT administrator of any organization. The administrator needs to ensure that the resources are monitored and utilized efficiently.

For an IT administrator, monitoring vast types of resources such as database servers, web servers, storage systems can be time consuming, tedious, and complex task.

Suppose you had a situation similar to the following scenario in which Sam works as system administrator for Calbro Systems. Calbro Systems is a large company with branch offices in Chicago, Houston, London, and Perth. Sam has struggled with monitoring of resources of Calbro systems across different locations and to analyse the resource impact. For example, Sam had to specifically monitor all the Linux CPUs of servers in Perth. Sam can overcome this problem by creating a group of local resources and monitoring the group to track the status. Infrastructure Management group configuration feature helps Sam to solve his problem effectively.

Implementation workflow

Sam needs to follow a sequence of steps to create and monitor the group of resources in Perth using TrueSight console. The following diagram depicts the workflow. The steps are explained in the tabs following the diagram. Complete the procedure by navigating the following tabs.
