Managing event groups from the TrueSight console

Use the Manage Event Groups page to view and manage the event groups. All event groups are displayed in a hierarchical order.

To access the Manage Event Groups page:

Log on to the TrueSight console and select Monitoring > Events. The Events page is displayed.
Click the View event groups icon . The Event Groups page is displayed.
From the main action menu, select Manage Event Groups. The Manage Event Groups page is displayed.

To understand fields and options on the Manage Event Groups page

The following figure highlights the various fields and options that are available on the page.

#	Field	Description
	Main action menu	Displays the following options: Create Event Group: Event groups are sets of events that meet certain criteria or conditions. These conditions act as filters on events. You can create an event group only if you are logged in as a Solution Administrator or a Tenant Administrator. Create Dynamic Event Group: Dynamic event groups are set of events that are created dynamically based on event slot that you specify. The event groups are created based on the unique values of the selected event slot. You can also provide certain criteria or conditions. These conditions act as filters on events. You can create a dynamic event group only if you are logged in as a Solution Administrator or a Tenant Administrator.
	View event groups	Displays all event groups in a hierarchical order. The dynamic event groups are marked with a star (*). Child event groups inherit the permissions and filter conditions specified for the parent event group.
	Event group action menu	Displays the Edit, Delete, and View options. You can edit or delete an event group only if you are logged in as a Solution Administrator or a Tenant Administrator.

To create an event group, see Creating-event-groups.

Log on to the TrueSight console.
In the navigation pane, expand Monitoring and select Events. The Events page is displayed.
Click the View event groups icon . The Event Groups page is displayed.
From the main action menu, select Manage Event Groups. The Manage Event Groups page is displayed.
From the action menu of the event group that you want to modify, select Edit.

The Edit Event Group page is displayed.
Modify the event group properties.

Note
If you are editing the properties of a child event group, you cannot modify the filtering criteria that is inherited from the parent. The inherited criteria is displayed in gray color.
Click OK. The Event Groups page is displayed.
Verify the modifications for the event group.

Log on to the TrueSight console.
In the navigation pane, expand Monitoring and select Events. The Event Groups page is displayed.
Click the View event groups icon . The Event Groups page is displayed.
From the main action menu, select Manage Event Groups. The Manage Event Groups page is displayed.
From the action menu of the event group that you want to remove, select Delete.
Note
When you delete an event group, its child event groups are also deleted.

Log on to the TrueSight console.
In the navigation pane, expand Monitoring and select Events. The Event Groups page is displayed.
Click the View event groups icon . The Event Groups page is displayed.
From the main action menu, select Manage Event Groups. The Manage Event Groups page is displayed.
From the action menu of the event group that you want to view, select View. The Event Group Details page is displayed.

Log on to the TrueSight console.
In the navigation pane, expand Monitoring and select Events. The Events page is displayed.
Click the View event groups icon . The Event Groups page is displayed.
From the main action menu, select Manage Event Groups. The Manage Event Groups page is displayed.
From the action menu of the dynamic event group that you want to modify, select Edit.

The Edit Dynamic Event Group page is displayed.
Modify the event group properties.

Note:
If you are editing the properties of a child event group, you cannot modify the filtering criteria that is inherited from the parent. The inherited criteria is displayed in gray color.
Click OK. The Event Groups page is displayed.
Verify the modifications for the event group.

In the navigation pane, expand Monitoring and select Events. The Event Groups page is displayed.
Click the View event groups icon . The Event Groups page is displayed.
From the main action menu, select Manage Event Groups. The Manage Event Groups page is displayed.
From the action menu of the dynamic event group that you want to remove, select Delete.

Note

When you delete the dynamic event group, its child event groups are also deleted.

Click the View event groups icon . The Event Groups page is displayed.
From the main action menu, select Manage Event Groups. The Manage Event Groups page is displayed.
From the action menu of the dynamic event group that you want to view, select View. The Dynamic Event Group Details page is displayed.
